Federer: It was a great battle, thanking the audience

The recorder at Grand Slam titles, Roger Federer did not hide his disappointment of losing the final in New York, but he was generally positive.

"Of course I`m very disappointed. I had my chances, but Novak did an excellent job and parried them. It was a great battle and I`m happy that the people stayed after the break because of the rain, for which I thank them ,because I needed them. The audience is one of the reasons to keep playing. Today it was amazing, probably the best I`ve ever seen. It was straight surreal experience, " said Federer after the ceremony.

Federer admitted that, the feeling that the fans wanted he to return to the game from footballtipster and to win was wonderful.

"I had so many possibilities for break points. Of course, some of them I had to play better. But Djokovic gave me no chance to do more. Overall I am happy with my level of play this year. I am able regularly to beat the best players. In Cincinnati it was an unforgettable experience after I have beaten the No1 and the No2 in one week, something I had not reached before. But the year is not over. Usually I finish the season strongly and I hope to do it again, "said optimistic at the end Federer.
