The Argentina national team was dissatisfied with the refereeing in the match mentioned by livescore with Paraguay. Argentina lost away to Paraguay (1:2) in the 11th round of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
The main reason for the Argentines` dissatisfaction was the fact that Paraguayan team defender Omar Alderete avoided being sent off at the end of the first half. The player played roughly against Lionel Messi twice - in the 33rd minute he received a yellow card for a foul, and a collision in the 37th minute only led to referee Anderson Daronco`s whistle.
The Argentine team demanded to show Alderete a second yellow card, but the referee did not do this. Alderete eventually scored early in the second half - his goal was the winner.
According to Clarin, the coaching staff led by Lionel Scaloni with the support of Walter Samuel protested against the referee`s decision at the end of the half. The head coach of the Argentines said: Nahal.
Messi actively expressed his indignation on the field. The captain of the national team expressed his complaints to the referee, pointing his finger in his face. Daronko urged him and other players to calm down.
