Atletico did not qualify for the knockout stages of European competition.
The team of coach Diego Simeone in the 6th round of the Champions League group stage lost away to Porto (1:2) and finished fourth in Group B.
In the last round, Madrid lost their chances for the 1/8 finals of the Champions League, and now they are left without the Europa League.
Porto topped the group with 12 points. Next came Brugge (11), Bayer (5) and Atletico (5).
